100,000 French Soldiers died in the Crimean War

I had no idea, I'd thought of the Crimean war as a predominantly British affair.  20,000 British soldiers died.  (wiki)  70% of deaths due to non-combat related disease. 

Oldest living veteran of the war died in 2004, age ~165 (160?).

BTW, the Times of London only had a circulation of 61,000 in the mid-1850s, and had a huge impact with its war reporting with this circulation (including readers in the Russian military who found the paper very informantive).
