We're in the market for a young male parakeet. Some issues are not quite clear to me, for instance how we're going to let the bird fly around in the rental house without running a risk that he'll get out -- the family room/living room/dining room/kitchen/hall are all one air space. And parakeets are keen on moving to the next door via ambush flying/diving. And once the bird is outside it's as good as dead.
Update #1: parakeet acquisition has been put off till the Fall due to logistical problems with having the bird fly and be socialized at our Summer place...too easy for it to get away there.
