Looks like the 5DIII may not be here until 2012, due to Japan earthquake issues...The 7DII may be late 2012 or later...so I need to hold out until then.
I've run into fit compatibility issues between my new eyepiece hood and the eyepiece dioter adjustment lens. I'll give up the diopter lens if necessary, but it ought to be possible to do both. I'm just at the boundary of what the built in diopter adjustment can accomodate, so I don't strictly need the diopter lens, though it would probably be good to have if I get a manual focus lens. There are eyepiece hoods you can use with glasses, but I don't like the idea. There ought to be a solution. Otherwise getting a manual focus lens is probably a bad idea, even if there are live view and focus confirmation points.
Below test shots at f/2 and f/7.1. I don't (yet) know how to create mouseover images. 100% crops. Life view manual focus is on the right eye of the bunny. There could be tripod shake here, since exposures are long, 1/6s and 2s. ISO 100. Colors are bad since indoor lighting is bad.
And yes, though you can't see it here, the lens has a slight back focus, probably okay. Better than a sligh front focus. Should be correctable with AF microadjustment on the next camera.
Very pretty. I know they're not allowed on-blog, but do you feel happy with the quality/quantity of portraits you take? I realize I switched to a DSLR about three seconds before my children stopped wanting to cooperate with photographers EVER. I could cry when I think of all the baby/toddler photos I didn't take with a good camera.
