No time to summarize my bike research... the process may take a while.
Kids and I went down part of the W&OD yesterday, they did well, especially kid #1 with by far the smallest and worst bike. She was fast and kept with it. A very impressive feat of athleticism by her.
Lot of fat road bikers out there, at least in the afternoon. No too crowded, but also nobody moving very fast. I assume I can cruise faster and more comfortably in the early morning.
One thing I need to figure out is how I'm going to combine running, biking and maybe some swimming. I'm currently working my way towards what I think of as two 50 min days of tempo running, two day of one hour of easy running and one day with a one two hour long run. If I take up biking I'll probably want to do one day with a tempo bike and one day with a long bike. I assume this means taking out one tempo run from my running schedule and maybe alternating long runs and long bikes every week. But I sort of like they idea of one long run a week and I don't want to give it up. So this may be one tempo run, one tempo bike, one long run and one long bike, with two easy runs (or one easy run and one easy bike?) on top of that...but that gets me to six day a week. Probably fine, with maybe weekly swim on on of the easy days. The bigger issue is how to not do the two long run/bikes two days in a row during the weekend. How do you do a two hour bike or run before work?
Not that I have this problem yet, I still need to acquire a bike.
