Looks like I have this common running overuse injury....I did gear up my running milage too fast. Now I need to not run for some time (five days into not running now, it may take another ten days or so), then gear up milage slowly enough not to have another injury. Live and learn. I need to think of more stretching and strenth training to do.
Time to gear up the bike buying project, thought that will involve overcoming/ignoring wifely opposion.
